Representative projects — details adapted from real installs in this area, names and specific addresses generalized
What our contractors ran into
Limestone bedrock at about 20 inches across the entire back property line. Our contractors brought a rock auger and adjusted the post depth to 24 inches with mechanical anchors instead of the standard 30-inch set in soil. The HOA had no objection once the rock conditions were documented in the submittal.
How it finished
Three-day install. Added a half-day for rock work but kept the fence line in the planned location. New construction lots in Canebrake almost all need rock work.
What our contractors ran into
Holland East has no HOA, but the homeowner's back neighbor had a 4ft chain link fence the homeowner wanted to butt against. Our contractors set the new fence 6 inches inside the property pin (per the survey) so the existing chain link stays untouched and the new fence reads cleanly from the homeowner's side.
How it finished
Two-day install. Permit was straightforward at this height. Neighbor stopped by during the install to check the property line — confirmed the survey pin location.
What our contractors ran into
Newer subdivision with HOA that mandates white vinyl on front-facing side runs. Homeowner preferred wood but covenants prohibit it on visible sides. Our contractors used vinyl on the road side (covenant-required) and proposed shadowbox wood on the back yard. ARC approved the mixed approach.
How it finished
Two-and-a-half-day install. Vinyl posts set 32 inches deep (deeper than wood) for wind load. Mixed-material transition post became a small feature.
What our contractors ran into
Commercial property needing perimeter security plus visual screening. Standard 6ft residential chain link wouldn't meet the lender's security spec. Our contractors used 9-gauge fabric on Schedule-40 terminals with three-strand barbed wire top. Slats added screening from the road.
How it finished
Five-day install. Sliding gate runs on a V-track with anti-derailment guides. Owner reports no security incidents in the year since install.
What our contractors ran into
Storm damage from a spring 2024 wind event. Three sections blown out, gate hinges torn from post. Our contractors replaced the damaged sections with matching cedar pickets, set new posts where the originals had also been damaged, and rebuilt the gate with heavier hardware.
How it finished
Two-day repair. Insurance documentation provided for the claim. Homeowner kept the rest of the (still-solid) fence.

Frequently asked questions in Athens
Is there anything specific to Athens I should know before getting a fence?
A few local notes we mention to most Athens homeowners: • Limestone rock common - may need rock drilling for posts • Growing area with many new subdivisions • Contact Athens Building Department for specific requirements We walk through these during the estimate so nothing is a surprise.
How fast can you get a fence quote in Athens?
Most requests get a response within one business day. After we learn the basics (footage, gates, terrain, timeline), we schedule an on-site estimate and follow up with a written scope and next steps.
What's the soil like in Athens and how does that affect post depth?
Limestone bedrock common in areas. May encounter rock at 18-24" depth. Allow extra time for rocky lots. That's why our contractors set posts at depths matched to local conditions — not the generic depth a national guide might suggest.
Can you repair or replace an existing fence in Athens?
Yes. Leaning posts, sagging gates, damaged panels, storm damage — tell us what's happening and we'll recommend the most cost-effective fix for your Athens fence. Sometimes a repair makes more sense than a full replacement.
Which Athens neighborhoods require HOA approval before building a fence?
Canebrake and newer Lindsay Lane developments have HOAs. Holland East and older areas typically do not. Send us your address with the quote request and we'll tell you what your specific HOA usually requires.
Will you confirm property lines before building?
Yes. We verify the planned layout with you before any digging. If a stamped survey is needed for Athens — Decatur and a few other jurisdictions require one for the permit — we'll recommend an AL-registered surveyor.
